is a 3o gallon tank with 2 inch substarait good for a fighting conch or do i need a dsb . I read that they need one but you know what they say .

If you dont like what your expert says get another expert.

I've kept conches without a DSB with no problems. The main thing to watch for is that they get enough food if the cleanup crew is competative or the tank is not heavily stocked. Conches need regularly available food that they don't have to fight for. I feed my conches dried seaweed. I plop a conch down on a piece of seaweed, and if it's hungry it'll chow down...otherwise it hopps away and somebody else eats what's left.

hey well a ten and 5 gallon tanks just fell into my hands so could i use the 10 gal and have a conch in it or is that to small. Thanks for the advice about the nori donya

Still too small for a conch. Conch's shouldnt be kept in tanks with less than say 800-900 square inches of footprint.

There are a few species that go under the "fighting conch" label, so the exact size of the conch would be a factor, but most that I have seen would do ok in a nano since they seem to be in the 2-3" range. The tank with my big conch is 12g, but it is long and shallow for maximum floorspace. The important thing space-wise is that they have a large flat area to hop around in. So, more surface area is better. If you can stack the LR mostly in one corner and have a good half or so of the tank's floorspace free, then I would think a fighting conch would do ok in a 10g. Just make sure the LR is securely placed so the conch can't uproot it or topple it by jumping into it sideways...and make sure not to put corals/fragile stuff in places where the conch can do a backflip off the rocks and land on it  I already made that mistake a couple times.
