i bought my siamese fighter on sunday, and he wont eat...?

ive tried flakes, betta flakes, bloodworm...

the tank is about 10 L
the temp is around <20 C (guessing)

any ideas?
or advice?

im new to keeping bettas...

cheers guys,
iain

Firstly, you will need an aquarium thermometer to know exactly what the temp is rather than guessing, as guessing could cost you the life of the fish.

Ok, so 20C is way too cold a temp for bettas. It needs to be up in the 27/28ish mark.

Do you have a heater in the aquarium or is this room temp only? If you have a heater, increase the temp a few degrees at a time until you reach the correct temp.

It's not uncommon for a new betta to refuse food for the first few days until it settles in, so don't panic over that for now. It's quite normal.

The main thing is getting its tank environment correct so that he doesn't get too stressed out and become ill.

Do you have a filter in this tank?

Regards, Athena

I second Athena. You need to know exactly what temperature your water is and be able to regulate it. He needs to be kept around 27. You should be able to get a small 25w heater relatively cheaply for him.

He's going into suspended animation hibernation! Brrr, he needs a heater! When fish are really cold, they don't eat. You will need to very slowly raise the temp of the water. You can buy a small heater for under $20. Good luck
