How can i increase the fibre in my fishes diet?

I cant get any sort of pet shop food for a day or two. Any other ways? mashed peas?

Ive just noticed that one of my platies takes a little long to poo and im thinking it might be a fibre thing.

I have 3 platys, water stats are great and i feed them flake food (fish is main ingredient) and bloodworms.

well first thing to remember is that the digestive system of the fish is somewhat different to that of mammals, no real stomach being the main difference. it seems that herbivorous fish need around 10% fiber in their food. with carnivorous fish needing 4% or less. looking at the contents of food of Platies the figure seems to be around 2%. but if you like, fresh peas, skinned, cucumber, courgette, well most veggies go down well.
