hello everyone few questions..

1. i've had a 36gallon FOWLR set up for 11weeks. it currently has 1 clown, 1 damsel, 12 crabs, 5 bumble bee snails..

i am moving 2 miles away.. how do i go about transfering? should i just fill up five 5gallon buckets from the water in the tank, with fish in one of the buckets, and take tank to new home, put sand and rock back in, let settle for a day, and add fish?

also im debating whether to keep the 36 or use my 80g that i have in storage..
my only question, would i beable to use the 80gallon with no overflow or sump? can i just get away with a hang on filter, 120lbs live rock, and a 75gallon eshopps skimmer for my filtration? this will only be FOWLR.

2. currently i am using 100% RO water, and its getting expensive, and to be a chore to get get water from LFS..
is there even any benifits to using RO for FOWLR? i use RO cause i originally wanted coral and reef, and heard RO is alot better for coral, but can i just use tap with water conditioner?

3. last question, i have set up a 6gallon tank, and i have a 75g eshopps skimmer laying around. can i use it? its a huge skimmer but its not like it has alot of pressure coming out the output..

1.
you dont need a sump with any sized tank, they are just handt things to have.

2.
benefits of RO, theres nothing in it that coult potentially be harmful to you fish - unlike tap water. You get less algae and phosphates in that tank. Buy an RO unit, in teh long run it works out tons cheaper.

3.
i dont think you would get enough flow through the skimmer to get it running effectivly. Waste of electrisity too as 99% of the time it wouldnt be doing anything. By all means try it. I would put money on it not working very well though. I would have thought that there would be over 2,000L/h going through a skimmer that sized which would mean you had a hell of a lot of water movement in such a small tank. Its not about the pressure coming through it.

thanks for your help :good:
another question i have is about my protein skimmer.
when the overflow gets full, i cant take it off without turning it off as the water is always 1/2" above neck line, but if i turn it off, and turn it back on, the water will instantly start pouring into the overflow and fill up within seconds, i have to turn it on and off about 5-10 times before it will act normal again.,
any suggestions?
