right, just ordered a few plants this week from someone and they have arrived today and are currently floating in my tank until i can sort them out tomorow
now ive been looking at a lot of the planted tanks and reading up a bit and have seen some great planted tanks that have used Seachem Flourish or TetraPlant PlantaMin and was wondering which you would recommend for me to use for my plants to flourish
the plants i currently have in my tank are growing at a slow rate, and have even spawned, but the new arrivals today are far more 'greener' than those i am currently keeping so i am trying to better my plants
anyway, here are my tank setups:
TANK 1
tank size: 24x12x12
lighting: 15watt
substrate: coral sand with coral pieces atop
tank contents: mopani wood with java fern attatched(flourishing), 2 large amazon swords, 1 piece of bogwood with java ferns attatched(recent addition but fern looking very healthy), java moss(not loads, it seems to be growing slowly and nowhere near as green as the stuff that has just arrived), Vallisneria americana, and a few other plants that i cant ID at the moment due to the originals dying off and the babies being very small
but stuff like my java moss is a much denser green than the stuff that has just arrived, i am now wondering if it is down to my tank size and the bulb i have in the tank or maybe the substrate
the other tank is a 12x18x12 and has a 11watt bulb in it, but im not sure if its the new plants or the bulb that is making them look much greener, this secondry tank is currently cycling and has driftwood with java fern attatched
do i need a better bulb for my bigger tank or is something in my tank affecting the way the plants are growing
PS. the lighting is on for approx 6 hours a day
