Very nice fish, I'll be at the BLA show in Nottingham as I'm on the committee of the BLA.
Who ever told you they came second was telling a little fib I think. The highest panda was in 9th place, and was breed by Francesco Tumino who shipped the fish over from Italy. They was then sold on but I donr know who got them.
Panda's are quite a rare colour genetically, the base colour is classed as Pink but sadly the black covers this colour in panda's. However if you compare the female to other shop fish yout see it's very different from the usual grey and blonds.
Good to see your breeding them but you need to do a little work to get good result's if you show them.
Firstly keep males and females separate when rearing them, so remove any male's as the start to show.
Your tails are ok, but try to breed from any male showing more of a pompom shaped tail, as it's slightly more in-between a coffer tail and round tail so would lose several points on the tail alone.
You also want to black to sopt clearly 4-5mm before the pectoral fins so the blank finnage stands out clearer.
Here are the top 3 fish of every class at the BLA show if your interested.
