Hi, was just wondering what people think of the festivum cichlid.
I have read up about them and they seem really placid and a very nice cichlid indeed.

So was just wondering what people think of them and what fish they housed them with, obviously not aggressive cichlids.
I read they grow to 6inch but other websites differ so what is their true size?

Thanks

im not sure on the size but ive kept them before and they were pretty shy and sometimes skittish. they can also be rough on plants if you have any, but other than that they are pretty cool fish.

Evil little blighters if they are kept with the wrong fish or singularly. Best off in a goup, my largest is about 5"

I have 2 in a 55 gallon. They've been in there for about 3 months and they're still pretty young (about 3 inches).

I was excited to find them in my LFS, but their behavior hasn't been especially interesting. I guess I would compare it to angelfish-like behavior. Graceful slow movements generally in the top 1/3 of the tank.

I have them with a snakeskin gourami, bolivian rams, kribensis, an angel, and some tetras. They festivums nip each other occasionally, but they almost always leave the other fish alone. I could be wrong, but I don't think they get to be 6". I think its more like 4-5.

hope that helps. :good:
