I was wondering how often you add micros/ferts/co2 to your tank.  What if you're on vacation for 2 weeks?  If I get plants will they keep me home bound?  I've heard of weekly dosage but some are daily.  Does this just vary with the ferts/micros/co2 you get?

Here are the two things I was thinking about getting. I'm not sure which one yet. http://www.ebay.com/itm/API-Leaf-Zone-Plant-8-oz-237-ml-Treats-up-to-474-gal-Aquarium-Plant-Food-/171165092408?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27da3c0a38

CO2 daily - Fluctuating CO2 can cause algae so needs to be daily if you're using it at all IMO
Macro 3x a week, Micro 2-3x a week (alternating) - That's EI. In theory you could dump all the macro's in the tank at the start of the week but then the only way is down, so on average daily would make a slightly less mean looking saw tooth graph.....
Micro's dosed on alternate days to help stop the iron reacting with the phosphate to a certain extent, although it's prolly gonna do that one way or another....it gives you an opportunity to look at the tank :)

As for holidays - Turn your lights down, to a minimum you're comfortable with - This will then become the limiting factor in the tank, hopefully coming some way below the levels of CO2 and nutrients in the tank over the weeks......

So do you think Java Fern, Anubias, and Vals are ok without co2 if I had 8-10 hours of light a day?

Java Fern and Anubius might be, they take ages to die :D Vallis you'd have to see.

And if you're away I'd be thinking more 5 hours or so maybe.

Do you mean 5 hours of light each day while I'm gone?

I'd be ok with doing co2 as long as it was simple.  So would the plants be ok with no ferts or co2 for 2 weeks?  Because I'm usually gone for 2 weeks twice each year.  And sitters wouldn't understand dosage.

Also, would those three plants look good in a tank alone, or would I need some bushier plants like cabomba or something?
