I have the same problem. My betta will bar up and be nose down and everything, then rip the nest up, go after the male, then hide lol.

thats because shes not happy with the males nest.If she does that put her back in the chimney wait for male to do nest then see what happens. If she does the same then leave them in there an see what happens. To be honest my female did that then the moring after there was eggs!!

I tried a few times, gave up after the fifth nest ripped to bits. May try one of my other stripping up females. My friend seems to think I should just leave them over night and see what happens but leaving them overnight makes me nervous.

ha ha im glad im not the only one and i dont feel comfortable leaving my bettas together overnight either. i curenlty have a male and female divided in a 5g tank and im hoping by this afternoon she wil be ready but last night when i put them together she was showing signs like she was ready and everything but once i pt her in she didnt want near the nest and literally freaked and and was darting around in the tank. should i leaver her when when she does this or is she clearly not ready? -_-

I haven't a clue, but will be watching carefully for the answer LMAO! :)
