i'm still just at the thinking/planning stage for what i'm going to add to my tank as i like to research and think for ages to be properly ready. So, this is something i previously overlooked as i didn't think it was viable but i've been reading success stories that say otherwise.
My question is this: could a group of female betta do well in a 10g if it was fairly well planted with lots of hiding places?
Second question: What if they also had to share with a couple of amano shrimp and 4 adfs?
The tank i have is 10g and has a couple of tunnels as hiding places, it has 4 young java ferns and an anubias nana and soon to be a larger java fern and an anubias bateri and perhaps another cave or two.
i heard females like to be kept in groups of 5 or more...well i heard 3 and i also heard 5. Would 5 do well in a small tank like this? Would they be ok with the other tank mates?

Any other suggestions for stocking my tank?
Thanks!

10gal (37 ltr), I would say you could happily keep 6 females in there, if it's just bettas, 8. They will be fine with amano shrimp but I can't comment about adf's.

Keep the tank well planted, vallis, swords, cabomba...........all pretty easy plants to cxare for.

Do you really think 6 would do ok? i was thinking 5. i have to admit i bought another 5 shrimp so now have 7 and the 4 frogs. It's a tall tank (46 h x 37.5 w x 25 d).

i'm thinking of re-scaping it somewhat. i'm thinking a biggish (for the size of the tank) piece of driftwood in the centre, to kind of divide the tank and add hiding places. i could attach the ferns to that and get a few more plants. i'd then have the three plants on rocks around the tank and i'm getting a cave. In this case though, i'd take out the two existing tunnels. i'd then leave the plants to get well established before adding the bettas.
