is this possible? my female gave birth 3 wks ago and now shes still very skinny. Im really sure that shes not prego, she doesnt have a gravid spot, and she looks EXACTLY like the picture ive taken of her right after her birth. there is a male platy in the tank(7 gal, w/ m + f guppy, m+f platy). anyone know why this is happening?

Well, I had a male Platy, in with a couple females, and he just ignored all of them. I added a few more Platies to the tank, Because I found some absolutely adorable ones, and he took a liking to them. Then he started liking the other girls. In a little while, they were pregnant. I guess he needed a "jump start". I would reccomend you get a few more Platy girls, but I see you have a 7 gallon, and adding more Platy girls seems like it would overcrowd it.

Do you have any other bigger tanks you could put them, and a few more girls in?

Oh, and since it sounds like you want babies, just make sure you have enough room to raise them, and the many other batches that come after them, because they can sometimes swamp you!

sometimes the different variations of platies will not breed together IME anyway
