Female Platy Hiding

I think waiting for things in your tank to stabilize first before getting any more fish would be a good idea.

Platys aren't schooling fish but they like to be with other platys. Hope all goes well the next time!

Don't add any more fish until the ones you have are healthy and well. Something obviously isn't quite right at the mo, be it your water, your tank maintenance, the quality of the fish you're buying, too many meds... It's something. Keep doing these large water changes regularly as clean water is the best cure for many things! I'm thinking especially for your neons who look a bit unhappy.

The platy will be fine alone until your tank is healthy enough to add another fish.

My female platy seems to be thriving now but i've been keeping a close eye on the neon tetras and they seem to be extremly aggressive and chasing eachother and nipping. Also the tetra with the deformed mouth seems to be the most agressive. could this be causing the damage on fins and how could I calm them down?

I've had a quick look on the internet and might nip to the fish shop tomorrow and get 2 more tetras to minimise the fighting as they are only in a group of four at the moment?
