Female Numbers

Would 5 females to 3 males be ok or would more females be recommended? I just don't want to get too many fish straight away (I already have the three males).

On average its 2/3 females to one male.you might get away with 5 females to 3 males,depends how frisky the males are...

Just be prepared for tons of fry with 5 females in the tank also...

I know that is why I don't want to get too many females to begin with.

Why not just go all males?

Cos I'd like to breed them. I just don't want to start off with too many females. I'd rather start off with a few and breed them.

But i know with some more dosile fish as long as you have more females it's fine. I know you said the males are quite relaxed most of the time and not pestering each other to much so getting 3-4 females will be fine.

They are as chilled out as chilled out can be. One seems more active than the rest (he's got the nicer colours too). The three of them all have slightly different colours too, one is pale blue, one is dark blue and the other is dark blue with an orange spot on his tail - incidentally I thought this species were all pale blue.

I still can't decide how many to get; I have decided on 6 at most, so it's now between 4 and 6 haha.
