Last week My dwarf gourami blew up like a ballon see thread here:

At the weekend I went to a LFS (a different one to the one I purchased the last one from) to see if I could get another female for my now loney male. The manager stated he did not stock any females because wholesalers have been pumping them full of hormones to make it easier for them to be breed in the aquarium. Before I could tell him about my problem he went on to say that he had noticed of late all the females he and many of his contacts had kept in there shops would ballon as if they had dropsy but with no other signs and that the cause of this was the hormones given that actually prohibited the female producing eggs.
Just though I would share this and would be interested if anyone else has had problems or heard of this happening.
