Female Fish Dying Just Before Or After Giving Birth

A friend of mine has a 2 ft tank containing mixed livebearers.

She has lost several fish over the past two months, all pregnant females. (Both Guppies and Mollies)

Deaths have occurred just before or just after giving birth.

Has anyone any experience of this or any ideas as to what is causing the problem?

Otherwise fish are healthy and no problems with males.

Her water tests OK. Ph, Nitrate etc all fine.

Both Guppies and Mollies are various sizes and ages.

Are they being stressed to give birth too early or just being chase because they are the weakest of the bunch.
