If I put 2 or 3 om them in a 30 gallon, could I? Would they fight or anything?

i have 1 male and 2 females in my community tank around this size, it seems to be no problem

if u mean like making a female betta sorrority tank, then u would need at least 4 or 5 female bettas. since u hav a big tank, u coulg get 10 or 15, makin a big sorrority. they distribute a pecking order, so if there's only 2, one will be picked on to death.

if u had 2, then yes, u would need 2 or 3 more to make a sufficent tank and a steady pecking order. oh, and u should take the male and get him his own tank, he will pick on the females to death as well. get him a tank at least 3 gallons w/ a filter, heater, and a light.

I have a 36 Gal tank with 3 females and 2 other ones were in it but I took them out to treat them. Now I am treating the big tank for ick because my new Bristle nose brought it home. OH well my bad for not quarantine her.

ANYWAYS. I keep 5 females in the 36 Gal tank. With only 3 they are fine because they have lots of room to hide. But the less you have the less you will see the others. The one dominate female will harass the others so they don't like to come out of hiding often. 5 is the perfect number they all keep each other in check. The more you have the better.

In a 30 gallon, I'd say 5-7 is a good number. With just 2 or 3, the aggression will be focused on one of the females and she could be killed. You will most likely see some chasing and possibly a tear in a fin once in a while, but it will heal. It's how they establish their rank.

You should never keep males and females together to live. They should only be together to breed and then it's only a temporary thing. Less than 24 hours actually swimming together.

so i really need to get one or two more females
First, you need to remove the male. Then, yes, you should get 2 or 3 more females.

Agreed.

Would female bettas, rams and angelfish all get along?

Are females pretty similar to males in hardiness?

Hi
Females dont tend to be as terrortorial or actively aggressive as males. I would say the Rams would be ok :good: Not sure about the Angels as I have never had them (I dont like em). I do know someone who has Angels and they are fine with fish about the size of bettas :good:

well we are here when you need to ask questions about what happened to your fish :good:

I would be very wary about keeping angels with bettas.... not to say it cannot be done. I would suspect that the angels fins would constantly get nipped. Female bettas are territorial and angels tend to be a bit of a target. However, you need to make sure you have a large enough tank for the angels + bettas. 30 gallons would be pushing the bare minimum.... especially once the angels reach full size.

Keep in mind that angels need taller tanks than most fish and bettas are better kept in tanks that are not as tall. You would have to setup the tank properly with plants and decorations to make this work.

Rams would probably be fine.

Females are still very hardy ;)

edit: just on second though... I don't have any problems with my 2 angels being kept with 2 gouramis... i would suspect that gouramis have a similar temperament to female bettas.

I have my 5 girls with 2 balloon Rams in the 36 Gal tank. No problems Only time they interact is when the bettas try and take food from the rams. The Ram will chase the annoying little piggy girls away. Besides that I don't even think they notice each other. The Rams are always chilling at the bottom bothering each other and the bettas are all over the place too busy doing betta things. Betta make great community tank fish. Because they don't care about other fish that don't look like them. They never start trouble they just do their own thing and are very independent. most of the time it is the betta that gets picked unless you have a really bully of a fish and that does happen.

Here is what my tank looks like

Here are some of my fish at feeding time

Thank you. I have put a lot of time and money into that tank. I just wish the plants were real. Oh well next time I will make sure I set up my tank with plants in mind next time.
