My female betta, Nira, has suddenly gained one LARGE spot going from one side of her (by the top) all the way down the other side to the bottom of her body. On the side with the ONE BIG STRIPE, on the back side, she has spots?! I'm a little worried. I just moved her to a smaller tank (From five to three) and this was after I may (sadly, probably have) put them next to each other.

I heard they get vertical stripes when they are ready to mate, but never one huge stripe and spots?

The stripes and spots now have white patches on them! Her fins do as well, I believe it is Ick! I'm 96 % sure it's ick. I put in some remedy, and I really don't want her to die! She's my baby ;n;

Is there anything else I can do? The only hospital tank we have is a half gallon bowl (I measured out the correct amount of medication) and so she's in there right now. I'm afraid for her!

You also need to raise the temp to 30. Increase aeration due to the high temp, and medication reducing oxygen in the water.

Good Luck.
Hope the fish gets well soon.

Whitespot.
The spots will be the size of a grain of salt, or sugar.
The spots do they show any signs or red, or pink areas. On the inside of the spot, or outside of the spots.
The white patches do they look fluffy like cotton wool, bleaching beneath the skin, do the patches show signs of excess slime.

The white patches on her fins are white 'sugar' pieces. And on her dorsal fin.
She mostly hides in the back, so it's hard to see her most of the time. But the light coloured spots and the stripe (kind of liked 'bleaching under the skin) has ... well, it looks like she's shedding like when a snake sheds (Thats the best way I can describe it).

The white spots are just white spots though.

It's dangerously close to her gills, I hope the medicine works fast.
I have a big heater in there, and so it's pretty hot in the tank (Though not flaming hot). It sometimes takes 'cold breaks' though. :S I don't have any other spare heaters.

Should I add in a bubble rock to help oxygenate the tank, or will that disturb the medicine?

Fish can also get columnaris spots. They sometimes can be a greyish white colour.
The spots can have a red centre, or red around the outside of the spot.
Bleaching beneath the skin, and peeling flaky skin can also be columnaris.

A pic might help.

She's gotten her colour back and the ick is almost all gone. Thanks to the medicine and your help! What you are describing with the flaky skin and red spot in the center is what she has now, what is columnaris? Is it curable? I really do not want her to die. D:

She doesn't just lay at the bottom of the tank anymore. I had to rid of her excess food though cause she wasn't eating. Don't know if she still is or not. Her tank also smells really bad, I don't know if it's from the food I just took out, the medicine, or the sickness.

I THOUGHT SHE WAS GETTING BETTER BUT NOW SHE'S SWIMMING FUNNY!

Sorry for yelling, but now she'll start flipping out and darting around the tank and I'm afraid she'll hurt herself or make herself more stressed. She got her colour back and her ick was almost gone, a little has come back but I don't know why she randomly started to swim funny!

She also stares at the top of the tank, so her body is vertical. I'm really afraid i'm going to lose her!

The water does it spell like rotten eggs, or sulphur? As this can be a sign that bad bacteria is running rampant in your tank.
Can you please post your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
Is sounds like she has columnaris on top of the whitepsot.

I would preform a water change and add the correct amount of medication back to water removed.
Columnaris thrives at higher temps.

How is the fish?

Link to columnaris.

yes, it smells like rotten eggs.

I would post my water stats, but we ran out of the testing things. We have to get some more when we have the money.

Hmmm... I'm not sure. It sort of looks like it, but it also doesn't. Hers' is a bit brighter, and it's like she's been scratching.
It may have just been from there being ick on her, and she kept rubbing it off.

Last night Nira was in really bad shape. The place where she had been itching was red and horrible and I thought she had rubbed right down to the bone. But when I came back from school just now, she was hiding in her ornament and came out to greet me. the spot is still red though it's not as bad, and I was wrong, it
wasn't the bone. It seems to be getting better.

Bless Her.
Keep preforming water changes to dilute the bad bacteria down.
Add the correct amount of medication back to water removed.

How is the fish now?

She's doing better. She doesn't just hide in her house all day. Instead she watches me on the computer. The ick is coming back, going away, coming back. Very frustrating. The gash in her side still looks pretty bad and today she had a scare and rubbed it on the gravel in a panic. After that she looked kind of depressed again and hid in her ornament. Now she's back out and watching me on the computer. She has a quite of bit of her colour back.

She's blowing a lot of air bubbles. But I believe that's normal for right now.

The only thing I'm really afraid of now is she isn't eating. She LOVES to eat, and for the first three days of her being sick she tried so hard to eat. She would go for her food then go off to the side and just blow an air bubble instead. Now she doesn't even try to eat any of the food. She just ignores it. I'm afraid she's going to starve herself for death. It's been five days without eating and she must be really hungry. I don't know how I could get her to eat now.

What medication are you using. As you can add maracyn with some ich medications.

Bless Her.
Soak her food in garlic juice to stimulate her appetite, and boost her immune system.

Oh, okay! Thank you for the advice! I'll try that tonight.

I took a picture of her bad side. If you can see it, the scales around are trying to fix itself, but inside is pretty bad.
About what you said with the water full of bacteria, i'm afraid she may get infection in her wound.
