Oh dear, poor girl! That certainly does look nasty! I'm not great with diseases, but it almost looks like an ulcer to me?

I agree flute.
Red on the inside and white dead tissue on the edges is an ulcer.
Does the fish still have whitespot?
As the fish needs treating with maracyn plus. It will wipe the good
bacteria out in your filter. But it wants wiping out if your tank smells of rotten eggs.

It's almost all gone now, a few bits on the edges of her fins but that is all.

I don't have a filter in the tank, since the hospital tank is a half gallon or one gallon bowl. Its all I had, and she's a community female.

How much is the medicine about? Can I find it in my local pet store?

I would go to your local LFS and ask for a good medication for ulcers.
Don't let them sell you melafix as that no good. It's just and antiseptic.

Nira took a BIG turn for the better! Her thing (red with the flaky crusts or whatever) just started to heal! (I didn't do anything, I looked in her tank at the end of the day and it was 'patching back up.' *shrugs*)

All her ick is gone and I'm going to do a big water change.Nothing too big, of course.

That's good news. If things do take a turn for the worse I would use a medication like maracyn.

Thank you for the update.

Good Luck.

Nira has almost made a full recovery! The 'gash' on her side has almost completely healed up! The little skin-things that seemed to be peeling off are still there, but im sure they will just fall off one day or another. She no longer has the gash, though! She's all completely normal! :D

Thank you for your help!

That good news.
Thank you for the update.
