So far in my research to find out how large a female betta will become I have read so many different conflicting answers. I have read that the adult size of a female betta is 1.5", 2", 2.5", and 3". Three seems like it is a little large to me and 1.5 seems a little small so I am thinking that it would be in the two range. I was just wondering which of these answers is correct. I am thinking about getting one for my ten gallon and I just want to make sure that I do not overcrowd it. Thank you in advance. :fish: Ashley

All of them are correct. Tank-raised females stay smaller. Pond-raised females grow larger.

Yep, all are correct, depends on the Betta and it's genes and living conditions. If it has any giant gene in it's background it can get 3" or larger, if it doesn't it probably won't get that large, but could definetly stay small. Just like any animal you have a range of sizes within the same breed.

Thank you for the responses. I guess I will just have to take my chances when I get one but I will be sure that I leave plenty of room for her if I do choose to get one. :)

well I have one otocinclus and three neon tetras... so I am thinking I will probably not get a female betta for this tank. However the question still applies because I do want one but I think she will go on her own. Mostly I was just curious about the size for a future tank.
