I would like to try feeding my fish some real food, opposed to just flake and tubifex worms. I have heard that zuccini and cucumber are decent choices.

What do I need to do to them in order to make them 'fish friendly'?

most ppl prefer to boil them a little bit so that they soften...

i myself skin them an just atach them to a plant weight ( after rinsing) then dropp it in....

Take off the outer layer of skin and take out seeds. You don't have to boil it. Actually, boiling just starts the decay faster and isn't necessary.

You could freeze the cucumbers and then warm them and place them in. This makes the zucchini or cucumbers more digestible (that's from my reading, not sure how true it is).

I freeze my cucumbers and then when I want to put them in the tank, I just put them into boiling water until they are unfrozen and plop them in the tank. The fish go absolutely crazy for this!

They also seem to enjoy lettuce, muscels, cockles and prawns!
