hi guys
i was wondering if it was possible to feed tropical fish bread like pond fish
when i was at a fish store im sure i saw someone put something bread like into the tanks
so is it possible to feed them bread or would it just kill them ?

ta

Bread may not hurt them but I doubt it has the nutrients that tropicals need. In a pond, the fish can eat other things, such as bugs that get into the water, that naturally get into the pond. They are in a natural environment so the bread is really just a treat. That isn't the case in a tank as the only food available to the fish is what you put in with the exception of algae eaters who can eat the algae.

Bread is also likely to contain fats that don't do them any good. I'd stick with vegetables instead if you want to feed them "human foods".

I remember reading a study on growth rates in fish using various foods and bread was one of the lowest in nutrients of all the things they used. I would stick with the veggies if you want to use people food :good:
