Hi All,

Went to the fish shop yestereday and the guy gave me some first bite fish food ( crushed flakes) to feed my platie fry. I have 8 fry. I have been told to give them a little pinch.

Im so worried that I will overfeed. I pinch in the tank it seemed to dissapear......... the fish didnt even come up to the surface like i thought fish were meant too.

is there any alternative feeding item. A pinch for everyone is different. ive been told if i put too much in they will die because of the ammonia.

Also feed them 2 times a day is enough.

Ive hear of brine shrimp....... is that easier to feed??

The guy i got the fry from said he feeds flakes and also puts this round pellet in the tank which sticks to the side.....

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Dave, I think the first thing I would do is relax. Taking care of babies can be stressful but most of us have had baby fish at somepoint. Anyhow, overfeeding will cause ammonia but if your filter is cycled a pinch will not cause an issue. They will be feeding on the flakes at somepoint. Where is mature fish know to come to the surface for food keep in mind these fish are babys so they need to learn where the food comes from. A lot of people buy liquid foods for baby fish so well worth a look into.
