All right, the new tank is coming and we'll be putting in a convict (female) and an oscar. It's a 90 gallon tank so should be plenty of space for both of them. I know some people here will say no, but after researching for months (since July), I figure it's worth a try and worst comes to worst the convict will be rehomed somewhere else.

Now I'll be feeding them staple cichlid pellets most of the time.

How about treats? We thaw brine shrimp, bloodworms, mosquitoe larvae, daphnia, krill (not all of them at once) on a daily basis to feed our bettas. Would it be bad to feed a small amount to the oscar and con every day or should we give them one large portion a week?

You can use those supplements more often then once per week, but every day is too much since their staple is, after all, the pellets. Pellets are condensed and very dry, so it's not good to overdo it in one sitting, but because the frozen food contains a lot of water it's more digestable and you can feel free to let them pig out every now and then.

all right
i guess i'll feed them the leftovers and seeing how i have 6 tanks, one or two tanks per day will get leftovers!

thanks freddyk
