I have heard of many people feeding their cichlids raw or frozen uncooked fish meat. Would it be ok to feed them cooked fish? I'm sure the nutrient content would be reduced a bit. I was just thinking and got curious and decided to find out. I'm in NO WAY going to try it. I just want to feed my ever thirsty for knowledge brain. Thanks!

I would assume that yes, you could feed them cooked meat as long as you do the cooking. You wouldn't want any extra salt or oil being added to the meat as they may do with a large scale meat producer (when they sometimes cook meat before its frozen). But, I'm just guessing here, wait for some other replies, but I would say it would be fine to maybe boil the meat a little first if your concerned about any germs or bacteria living in the meat :good:

I was wondering this for like you said, diseases and such. I was thinking that maybe you just put the fish into boiling water (poaching) and add no other additives. That should do the trick. Like I said, this would probably cut nutritive value a bit. Also, here's another one... the canned tuna in sea water (not the oil) could you in theory drained the water from it, maybe rinse it to get some salt off of it, then feed that?

I'm jsut curious and have too much time on my hands to think

Anyone have anything... well here's more

How bout chicken or other poultry (raw or cooked?). Some people feed theirs beef hearts... what about just plain beef, like cutting up a steak (again raw or cooked?) I'm just thining a lot. What nutrients will they get form eating htis, surely they won't be of exactly the same use as we do. I'm jsut a curios little bugger, aren't I?

Edit: Please remember, this is all in theory... I in no way plan on doing this... ever!
