Today I got a small plastic baggy of daphnia from my lfs to feed my White Cloud Mountain Minnows. It was the last one, and to be honest, quite a bit of the daphnia inside looked dead (well, quite a bit of what was floating about was motionless in itself). I decided to go ahead anyway as I was going to siphon it through a net, and then pour tank water through the net, then dip the net in the tank (rather than pour water from the baggy directly into the tank).

Well...some live food went in, but not as much as dead daphnia. The Minnows ate both, although some of the dead daphnia and bits of debris and husk got away (I'm conducting my 50% weekly water change tomorrow), but that isn't my main concern - it's that the Minnows ate dead daphnia and any bits of debris and husk. Unlike normally, I'm not panicking overly much; what's done is done, and there's probably very little chance that next time, even should I choose a better bag of daphnia, some dead daphnia and bits of debris and husk won't get in the tank from the net (I'll just have to accept it unless I opt for raising my own daphnia cultures). Should I be worrying more, or am I fine to just relax and chalk it up to experience?

Relax, its unlikely to have done any harm, and the fish would have enjoyed eating the live ones. Daphnia isn't all that nutritious but fish love them.
