Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this site- i've just been looking around for the first time and it looks great :)

A couple of weeks ago I got a new 30l Biorb aquarium. I'm very wary about putting too many fish in here as it's only a bowl, so i thought i'd add some zebra snails as well as my first two fish (guppys). I'm regretting this a bit though because I've read that they feed on algae, but because my tank's has only been going a couple of weeks there doesnt seem to be any algae yet! Sorry i know, i know this was stupid! So, my question is, for the time being can i feed them something else, like vegetables or salad leaves? If so, which ones, and are there any that are a definate no-no?

Thanks a lot- as soon as i get a reply i'll head out to the supermarket!

Chris

by the way, i never thought snails could be fun, but they really are! I can't believe how fast they move around, and also I'm glad i've got a secure lid because one's already been testing it out!

Hi, you could try an algea wafer [the type used for plecs and other bottom feeders].

Welcome to TFF

I feed mine with a slice of cucumber (courgette/zucchini works just as well). Blanch it for a few seconds in the microwave, weight it and drop it in the tank. Remove any remains before it starts to go off though.
