Feeding My Fish..

How do I know if I am UNDER feeding my fish.

Since having problems with variable PH etc, and undergoing a thorough cleaning operation, I have started feeding only once per day, instead of twice.

I feed either a pinch of flake or Crisp food, or a single cube of live food.

We have 4 Cardinal Tetras, 4 Whiteclouds, 2 Cherry Barbs, 1 adult Platy and 3 babies (<2cm long), 3 Corrys, and a solitary Guppy, in a 16G tank.

Food is eaten as soon as it is offerred.

Does anyone feed peas or lettuce, and if so, how is it done? Have tried putting in raw peas, small pieces of lettuce, but they have not been touched.

Feed very little and often that way you will keep your water in great condition,rotting food is not good.
Feed as much as will be consumed in about a minute or two,I also feed sinking wafers which are fine for a couple of hours.
I feed peas but shell them first then pick off little pieces for your fish.

I feed mine peas 1-2 times a week, I boil the peas for a few minutes, take the skins off and then I mash them , a bit time consuming and the first time I tried it wasnt touched now however they all live it and it is all eaten within a very short period of time, my Angels crash into each other in an attempt to get at the peas first!!!

just slowly put more and more flakes in until 1 bit goes to the bottom, that means that they are full as they haven't enough time to eat what they already r. if that makes sense

You only want your fish to be feeding in a frenzy for about 1 minute when you feed them. Just enough so that you can hardly see any food left floating in the tank within a minute of putting it in.

you may want to consider getting some mates for your lonely guppy as they are shoaling fish

It is much easier to overfeed than to underfeed. I feed once a day or once everyother day. Adult fish don't need much food. As to the quantity you should feed I agree with what everyone else has said. Enough to be consumed in 1-2 minutes with very little left over. The leftovers are for snails, shrimp, any other scavenger you might have.

Hi, i have just got 6 corys (3 bronze and 3 peppered) thay are all about 1.5" long and I am feeding them on Tetra Tabimin, how many tablets and how often should i feed them to avoid over / under feeding ? The only other inhabitants of the tank are 5 Harlequin Rasbora so i guess the corys may be feeding on any of their flake remnants that sink too.

i feed mine lettuce to do that rinse it under tap and also feed zuchinni and cucumber the best way to do that is to elastic rubber band it to something in tank so the fish can get to it easily

any food left in the tank after the one - two minutes just net it out and your be fine.
