So I recently got a Bristlenose Plec from another user on this forum and she has settled in really well and has just started to get braver venturing out onto the front of the glass now.

I just have one concern now and that is whether she is getting any food or not. A few times now I have dropped an algae wafer into the water for her and all the other fish have got their first. I have tried dropping in at different times, like after I have turned the lights off or at the same time as feeding the other fish but no matter what I still haven't seen her eat the wafer's.

What can I do to make sure she is getting them and not the other fish? Should I put some other food in instead that only she will be interested in?

Try some fresh veg like cucumber, courgette (americans call it zucchini) or potatoes even. Just microwave em for like 20 secs to soften them up.. mine is currently munching on some now!!

One think you can do is change food. To your other fish these algae wafers are treats. Try using Zucchini (Courgette or something like that if you happen to be a Brit.

) Just boil the kettle, pour some of the water into a bowl and drop a piece of Zucchini in it for about a minute. (Not everyone does this, some just drop it in raw, but I like to tenderize it for my BNP.) Anyways said veggie floats, so impale it on a clean spoon and drop it into the tank. Most fish don`t care for Zucchini and so won;t touch it. If you have shrimp or snails, they`ll love it. So will your BNP (Hopefully anyways. I know mine loves it.) And that way she`s getting some nourishment at least

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll pick some cucumber up from work tomorrow as I also like it :)

How long should I leave it in for? I'm guessing only overnight or something? I don't want it to spoil the water

I believe just overnight, yes. And you want Zucchini not cucumber. I hope this works out for you =)

OK I'll grab a courgette (zucchini) instead. I just opened the pack of algae wafers I bought to find that its much larger than the ones provided. Hopefully this will make a difference
