Canada Eh?
Ok, those who read my boring ramble know I have aquired a large RTBS. But the problem is ever since I got the thing I have not seen it eat... My last one (way smaller however) ate flakes but this one has not touched anything. I feed shrimp pellets and algae waffers for my bottom feeders, I have tubiflex worms but IMO that was a waste of money since nothing has any interest in those (Plus how come they never stick to the glass like they say they do???)

It never leaves a decoration I have in the middle and I try to drop food down there but no avail (Unless it eats when the lights go out but I stay up late...very late and always glance over every now and then..)

Anyways, anyone have any ideas or food recommendations?

i have an elephant nose that i thought did the same......its a very docile fish and doesnt come flying out when i feed the tank

i was starting to get worried thinkin that she was gonna starve to death but i woke up the other night very late and she was swimmin round the tank like she owned it

i was like  omg she's feedin!!!!

anyway i went over to my tank and left all the lights off and grabbed some food and she took it from my hand

so i think that ur RTBS may just be shy and it WILL eat at night when all the lights are off.....a few ppl on this forum have had the same problem

i agree that tubiflex worm cubes are poo and they dont stick to the glass at all do they!

try some frozen bloodworms......all my fish go mad for it

Tek :fish:

How long have you had the fish? They are scavengers and will forage for food at the bottom, mostly after the lights go out. Try dropping food in there about 30 min after lights out.

I'll try the frozen bloodworms, thanks for the suggestion.

I got it about a week ago, and it does seem to come out a lot more. When I first got it all it did was hide all the time but I knew that was normal. It's out a lot more now so I guess I shouldn't worry so much.

Thanks.

Oh and btw... does anything even eat those tubiflex worms? How do they feed them? I tried just floating one around but it was there the next morning so I took it out.

all of our fish seem to like Tubiflex , only bought some for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I just break a little piece off the cube and put it in the water between my fingers & rub , this way all the worms come loose. I reckon there must be hundreds of worms in one of those cubes & it would be far too much for our community tank to eat in one go.

Good luck finding food for your fish

i just got some frozen daphnia too
