I've never done the frozen brine shrip thing. The crushed flake food will work but you gotta grind it up really fine between your fingers before dropping it in. Most of the food you put in will end up sinking to the bottom cause it'll be so small and the fry's mouth is so small that it can't eat all of it.

I've also used hardboiled egg yoke. You hard boil an egg and grind up the yellow yoke in a bowl using some water to make a soupy paste. Then using a fork/toothpick/finger what ever you can swirl a little in the watter till it fogs up a bit and they'll goble that up like mad. Mind you ya don't want to put so much in you CHANGE the water color just enough to cloud where you drop it in and they'll go at it. I used that method cause its A LOT cheaper than buying the frozen stuff.

No u let them defrost first, they cant eat frozen foods, like u wouldnt eat a frozen chicken breast.. or would you :S lol

Nope, i was curious whether this would work and they cooked (and stunk a lot) I just get them out of the fridge about an hour before and put the cube in a little tub then feed it once its defrosted. x

ok, thanks its taking a while for my females to have their babies its been like 5 weeks now lol maybe even more ive lost count.... :( getting anxious

I drop the frozen cube in the fry tank. They come up to it and wait till it starts to defrost in the water (4-8 secs.) and pick off the bits as they fall away. Have tried defrosting first but they seem to prefer then cube.

Well I hope you are feeding your fry Baby Brine Shrimp, not Brine Shrimp. Baby Brine Shrimp is small enough, but Brine Shrimp is not. An easy method you can use to defrost the Baby Brine Shrimp, would be, fill up a cup with water from the tank. Then you would put the frozen food in the cup. In about 15 minutes at most the frozen food should have melted. Then pore the food to the fish. By poreing the Baby Brine Shrimp bit by bit you control not over feeding them. You pore a bit and when they are done eating that portion you pore more and more. But there are other great foods for Fry. But Baby Brine Shrimp is one of the best you can feed livebearer fry. I will post a website showing various foods for fry.

Hikari makes the best fozen foods. Also they have some very good Freeze Dried, pellets, and flakes diets. They even make foods specifically for Cichlids. I will post Hikari's website below to show you all the types of food they develop. If you surf that website you will find how advance the technolgy Hikari uses to process there foods. They even have facilities where they test the foods on fishes so they can improve the food more. Take a look at there warehouse :hey:
