Hi I just put a piece of cucumber in my tank for my ottos and bn pleco question is how long do I leave it in my tank and how many times a week can I feed them it?. Thanks in advance

i would suggest zucchini over cucumber, its more nutritious....a cucumber is like eating water

once or twice a week is enough, leave it in for half a day or even all day, it wont pollute the water like fish food does, so no harm in leaving it in there longer

R ok I put in zucchini just couldn't remember it's name lol cheers for that

I usually leave it in over night and my BNP goes crazy for it. He only gets it a few times a month though, it's a treat for him, not a staple food.

My fish sometimes leave it a week before eating, as mentioned above it's only water so no issues with polluting the water - put a screw in the bottom to weigh it down.

i normally use a small flat rock and wrap an elastic band around it

With the Zucchini/Courgette I usually blanch it in boiled water from the kettle for about 10 mins before putting it in the aquarium.  I didn't used to then I read somewhere it assists with the fish digesting it, not sure if that is true, but I guess you could test and see which they eat more of?

I weight mine down with a piece of lead weight, but the stone and rubber band sounds a good move too.  Interestingly with the led weight I find my Oto's attack it from top, under and at the side.

I use a lead weight with a clip, attached to a string so I can retrieve it easier. I got it from my husband who uses them to determine the depth of lake water when he fishes.

It usually only takes a couple days for my fish to devour a slice of cucumber!

My BNP eats a hole right through the slice I give him in a night. and then he shows no interest in the shrimp pellets I drop in which he normally inhales.
I just anchor mine under a piece of drift wood in the tank, and half the time he and the shrimp will have eat it so much it's just the skin left floating around the tank in the morning.

Also peas, boiled and deshelled go over quite well once a week :)
