Feeding Archerfish Naturally

Yes. They'll thank you for it! But as ever, as nice as live food is, it isn't always balanced, because we can't offer the variety of prey a fish would get in the wild. Furthermore, prey animals aren't "empty" but filled with plant material they've eaten, and this is an important source of nutrients. So, as a rule, use insects as a treat, but a good quality flake or pellet food as the staple.

Is it possible to feed Archerfish using flies, crickets etc.?

Obviously this depends on the size of your archer. Some species of archer get to 40 cm, and they'll eat really big crickets quite happily. But an average sized archer around 10-15 cm long can easily manage to small crickets with a body length around 5-10 mm. If all you want to do is get your archer to spit, there are easier ways than using crickets. But as a treat. crickets are usually very popular. So are houseflies, maggots, mealworms, etc.

Crickets are easy to get, but are they too big??

darkleo,

Take a look at this long thread I posted a couple of months ago. It's a fairly detailed description of different feeder insects that I've proven to be safe for T. jaculatrix. I'll be updating it in a couple weeks since I need to add B. dubia roaches to the list after I've finished using them as feeders; my nymphs are just now reaching appropriate size.

Is it possible to do an archer in a 10-gallon desktop at work?

Saw some at the local fish store and they were NICE.
