Hi,

I'm currently on the hunt for a second hand 20 UK gallon tank which will probably be 2.5' / 80cm wide, 1' / 30cm deep and 15" / 40cm high.

I plan to move my fish from my current 8 UK gallon tank to give them more swimming and exploring space and add a few more. I've got the bug as happens to so many and I want to create as ideal an environment as I can.

Here's my idea:

2 Bolivian Rams (1 male & 1 female)
10 Flame tetra (I have five currently)
3 Corydoras Sterbai (I already have these)
3 Otocinclus
2 ADF's
and maybe a snail or two?

Does this seem a good group of fish and frogs for a 20 UK gallon community tank?

I've researched all of the fish and frogs for compatibility using google but i'd like some feedback from people who keep or have kept these or similar fish and frogs.

I plan to filter it with a Fluval 204 external filter and maybe also the Fluval 1+ from my 8 UK gallon tank.

I was planning on a planted tank, black sand substrate with some pebbles and bogwood.

I was hoping that the introduction of a new alpha fish pair and a few more Flame Tetra would calm my current alpha fish a Flame Tetra down a bit and give him something else to think about!

Your feedback as always will be greatly appreciated.

That sounds nice but u better watch out for those ram. I found they r very aggresive once they breed ur cory will probably in a nightmare once they do :(.

careful of the rams.i have 3 and they are very aggressive towards each other.i imagine if they breed, the other fish better watch out lol

If the Rams are a no no with the other fish how about a single South American or Brazilian freshwater puffer fish?

I've read they are not aggressive?

If not any ideas of a single or pair of larger fish that I could have as a centre piece (not bottom dwelling though)?

bolivian rams are very difficult to sex
I myself have found tips on how to sex them but they are not always accurate. I would only keep one ram in there, as two males would fight it out until one dominates the other and takes over the better part of that tank!

you could maybe keep a honey gourami or dwarf gourami as a centerpiece. Maybe even one single bolivian ram (though they don't move much for a centerpiece)

Maybe a golden wonder panchax. they are pretty nice but they jump out in the smallest hole!

I'd get keyholes instead of the bolivian rams and skip the ADFs and otos in order to add more cories.

Sorry to double post but how do ADFs fit into the neotropical theme? :p

keyholes are pretty nice, but i find rams more active!
i would also add 2 cories to make a nice shoal

They obviously don't but I like the idea of a keeping a couple of frogs. I didn't think that I would be able to buy a species that would be suitable from that region.

Any suggestions?
