I guess most devices that hold zuchini or other vegetables at the bottom of a tank are homemade, so this might not be a big money saver, but it's very convenient: To avoid soaking my arm when I pull out the leftovers, I attach the food to a weight that is tied off with heavy monofilament fishing line. The other end is tied to a synthetic wine cork that floats at the surface for easy retrieval.
Lightweight line might be a bit of a hazard for fast swimmers that can't see it. The line I use is designed for king salmon, so it's pretty thick.
My weight is a smooth beach rock that I found with a small hole drilled through it. It looks like it might have been done by hand a long time ago. I suspect it could be some sort of artifact. I should probably have an expert look at it rather than use it to feed my fish.
