Had enough at the minute had to have a move around fish wise i noticed my GBR only had half a tail the other day. I came down this morning to find he had lost all of it and there was only a little stump left. I watched as the kribs were singling him out pinning him against the side of the tank and trying to rip him apart.

Now i know Kribs can be aggressive when breeding but ive not seen them dancing and certainly no laying of eggs. I have just lost the ram which has annoyed me as he was a great little fish one of my favorite. So the moving started i have had to put anything free swimming apart from corys and danios into where the kribs were and moved the kribs to the other tank. The only question im wondering about is well the Sev be ok with my Angels the male angel has seen him off a few times nothing harsh i think its just establishing who is who.

All in all im getting a bit fed up thanks for listening :good:

chin up Chris....

are the corys now in with the kribs if so they may well get attacked, its been know for kribs to remove corys eyes....... :crazy:

well they were in with 5 bronze corys and left them alone now they are in with 5 pepper corys clown loach 2 plecs 2 crabs danios think thats about it

more trouble than they are bloody worth

i dont know much about kribs but it maybe best to remove them from all the other fish and maybe setup there own tank. i know not everybody can do this and it leaves another option which is re-homing them? or the other fish they may attack?

its crap when this happens, i had a beautiful golden nugget pleco which was being bullied by my female brisstlenose plec. i didnt move her in time and she was lying under a platic drain pipe i put in as a cave, dead.

it comes down to what you think is best, if you decide to leave them be and hope for the best thats fine,been done a million times and the problem MAY rectifiy itself, but they may end up killing or injuring the other fish.

Cheers mark ive moved them to one of my smaller tanks no other cichlids in there just some corys etc ill see how they get on if they dont book their ideas up ill take them back to the LFS screaming and shouting

Cichlids are fun<i mean stressful for the avarage keeper to house.....Seriously even dwarfs have spats with each other, you are much better of keeping singular specimens of cichlids together than pairs, even them that can be difficult.But you stand a better chance of sucsess, I always now keep single specimens in a tank...but i do have a pair of oscars which as we speak are actually mock spawning and digging pits cleaning slate and sparing, they do chase they bala's and dollar but just out of there area,

We all do keep alot of cichlids together in the hope they get on, but what people need to understand is each cichlid will have a different mentality, like the oscar i had before 5incher ruled the tank even attacking me, where as these two i have now are very peaceful...

Ive done the alot of cichlids together but it ended in disaster, you can never as they question will it get on, because truely no one can reply to that question, they may think they can but cichlids bafel anyone, ive seen and know of full grown massive jaguar cichlids living happily with other oscars and severums,and iam talking for about 5years plus not a couple... but my jag just decided one day to attack..

hope you get the point, if you want pairs then you have to put up with the woohs unless you dedicate a tank to them, Much like a well known cichlid keeper/collector alot of people know..aquamojo..he keeps them in seperate tanks and very large ponds

Kribs can be nasty. One of my 5 (3f, 2m) is a right evil little so-and-so. She's torn all the fins on my tetras, female bettas and corys. My poor Morgan (albino cory) is not feeling at all happy after having had her dorsal fin nearly bitten off! The pair of kribs have been moved into their own space now with no other fish. The male loved being in a community and he was such a softie but I moved them both to be sure. I left another female in that tank with the community and she's been OK so far, but she's probably getting rehomed soon now that the male and other female have paired off.

I have another pair in a second community tank with some larger fish (i.e. no tetras or corys) and while the male is a bit of a bully to the swords and panchax, he has not harmed any of them. He's currently being a very attentive father-to-be and despite being in with his mate and an apisto, he's not causing any problems to them or the other fish.
