Since my catfish only really get scraps and shrimp pellets and the occasional bottom feeder wafer, I thought I'd pick up some frozen bloodworms so they would make it to the bottom of the tank. It was quite the experience!
I thawed the whole cube, not realizing how many worms there would be, so I think Ill just go with half next time. Anyhow, I fed a bit of flake food on the opposite side of the tank to distract the other fish and then dropped some in and have them hit bottom. I couldn't believe how crazy all the fish went! The cats all had them hanging out of their mouth, but they only each had one.
The fat Danios on the other hand --- one in particular ate 5 or 6 from the ground. He looked like he was going to explode! Also, all the Rasboras except one managed to get one. You could see the worm in all their guts. When they were done, a couple of pairs of them were showing off to each other, getting side by side with their dorsal fins straight up and smacking tails together. It was quite a scene!
Anyone elses fish go berserk when they feed frozen food?
