actually, we really are a lot better than most forums.
my point is that we really can't begin to make any suggestions about stocking without knowing what else lives in the tank. water parameters (such as pH and hardness) also dictate what's an appropriate suggestion. that's often the problem with giving advice over the internet--there's just not enough information immediately available.
since you aren't immediately interested in making a purchase, might i suggest just poking around at the various fish sites and seeing what you find interesting? our fish index and aquabid.com are two places where you will see a wide selection of interesting fish. if you think you might like to add a catfish, then planetcatfish.com is a great place to poke around. "scotcat" also has some fantastic profiles posted, but i can't recall what the suffix is for the address.
and in a direct address to Gankutsuou:
my point was that no explicit suggestion could possibly be appropriate at this point because there was not enough information. mistakes are also only learned from when they are pointed out; i know that QTR is commited to responsible husbandry and thus would benefit from a reminder that not all fish are appropriate to all set-ups. that is why i also provided two instances in which one of his suggestions would be a poor choice. i will admit that i should have explicitly stated my opinion that, although a mistake was made, i do not feel that it makes QTR any less of a valued contributor to the forum (which he is). my apologies for that oversite and the delay in response.
also, Gankutsuou, i do not appreciate the very condescending tone with which you have responded to me. i will admit that we do not always see eye-to-eye, but i have tried very hard to always treat you in an adult fashion and i would appreciate it if in the future you could return that courtesy.
