Fe Test

I have heard that iron tests are "notoriously unreliable"...Are there any that are worth buying?

I am still having algae problems (dark hair algae) and I think iron could be the lacking nutrient...I have been attempting to follow Zigs Estimative Index......

I have Ph=7.0 kh=110 nitrate=about 7-8ppm and phosphate = about 0.5 ppm. I have no idea what my iron levels are.....I have a 55g with about 4wpg on the heavily planted side and about 1.7 wpg on the very lightly planted side. I have a few low light , easy growing wisteria on my low wattage side, and many plants that are growing fast on my heavily planted side.

IMHO Sera Fe tests are the most accurate

I'm fairly certain no Fe kit is reliable due to the nature of dissolved iron in water.

What iron supplements are you using?

I know this is an old thread but this may be of some use to someone.

What Phosphate test kit are you using. The smaller cheap kits are useless try

to see if phosphate is causing your algae.
