Hi. I've had my Zebras for about a month now and 2 of the six are really starting to bloat up compared to the others. I was thinking up till now that they were female and the others males but yesterday after feeding them frozen bloodworms, it was clear that there size seemed realated to the food. They seemed to increase in size within a few minutes.

I'm thinking I obviously need to cut back on their grub but my problem is the two new guppies I've added. If I put everyone in the tank on a diet, will the guppies be okay? Already they don't get half the food that the Zebra's are getting. They just don't seem to compete at the surface for it so only end up getting the scraps that get past team Zebra.

Do you have any tips of feeding the guppies without feeding the Zebra?

I only have one tank by the way. Cheers.

tryusing a stick on tablet food, like Sera O'nip® or
king british fish treats

both of these you press to the front glass and sit back and watch the fish 'peck' at them.

personally I'd not keep guppies with danios anyway as you will most likely end up with short tailed guppies

I didn't know about the stick on food. Will give it a shot.

So far the danios & guppies have been fine. They are mingling well and I've not seen even a hint of chasing or nipping. Fingers crossed!

I have never seen any trouble between guppies and zebras. The zebras do move much faster but that's just their nature. For stick to the glass fish food, most of the little blocks, like freeze dried tubifex and similar stuff, will stick to the glass long enough for a feeding if you push it against the glass hard enough to squish out most of the air. My problem with using that on 6 zebras and 2 guppies would be that the blocks of food you can stick to the glass are quite large compared to what those fish could eat. The chance of the zebras causing the guppies to starve seems small to me. I have never worried about it and the slower fish always seem to end up with enough food.
