This morning i noticed on of my females platys is very fat thought it might be having fry but i have only the two platys and both are females. I did notice this a couple of weeks ago but it went down no she is fat again, I don't know what it is? can it be that she is over feeding as she must be the fastest fish in the tank and rushies to eat all what i put in the tank, I do feed them peas once a week for digestion. Water is all ok as i have just tested it before my water change today.

she may very well be developing fry. regardless of whether or not a male is currently living with the females, they can store sperm for quite some time. could you post a pic? perhaps we can rule out disease in this case. how long have you had her?
i suspect some fry are on the way.
cheers

Well last night i took the platy out and place her in to another tank by herself and over night she had babies, still confused how, as i have had the platy in for a month my first set of fish. So what to do now? I don't know? will it be ok to take the adult out and put back in to the main tank? and how long will you recommend to take them to my LFS might keep a couple myself. I think i know how to feed the fry by crushed up flakes but is the it and anything else i should need to know :)

You can return the female to the main tank. A platy can carry sperm packets for about 6 months after mating so you may still see more fry from her.
If you feed well and do lots of partial water changes and keep the temperatures near the top of the fish's acceptable range, you can expect to get a platy big enough to sell to the LFS in 2 to 3 months.

Thank you for your information, will do my best :) for them
