Fat Or Pregnant?

Hi everybody,

New to forum and not an expert by any means, so please excuse my ignorance.

I noticed one of my mollys was looking quite rotund. Can you kind folks tell me if she is fat or pregnant? She might even be a he for all I know.

Ok, so maybe it's not even a Molly. My daughter said it's a Platy? I don't know! I just keep them alive and happy.

im not 100% positive but i think its a pregnant platy

Difficult to say from that piccy, but first instinct is platy rather than molly. But definitely gravid.

From what I've read, Platies eat their young. Not really sure how their species have survived, but as a mother of teenagers, I can certainly understand their motivations.

So, I guess just wait and see?

look at the front of her if she is round or gets round the she is pregnant. and that IS a platy

Panda platy. Pregnant. They survive by hiding. They naturally hide when born. It's instincts.

Oh yeah and you can tell most mollies and platys apart by they're eyes. Most mollies will have large buggish eyes and platys will have regular eyes like yours does.

That is a Panda Platy, I have one that looks just like her And she is defo preggo.

I had 2. One was a real fighter I thought he would never die. His pattern was just like that but I guess it was just his time. I watched him slowly slip away.
