I have this betta named gracie.
She has a very large stomach for some reason.
Almost like the onset of a constipation or dropsy.

About 30 fish in the 75 gallon and also in the main tank all the lvls are right on, but I am doing water changes every other day for now. temp is 82*f

She is a little cow. I feed her the betta food - 3 pellets 6 days per week, 1 time per day, starve on day 7. But she will still graze around the tank for any food that is leftover from the feeding of the other fish. (they are on the same 6 day schedule) I believe this is how she got so big in the first place.

this started last week, so I moved her to her own tank and was feeding her every other day. I would rotate a blanched pea and then a crushed antibiotic food. i was keeping on eye on her poo. It was coming out long and white.
So her stomach has not gotten any smaller for some reason.

and for the tank that she is, all the lvls are right on and doing smaller water changes here also every other day.

As of today, she is hiding under some rocks that I have in the tank. She could be hiding due to the water current but it never seemed to bother her before. The small tank is a 5 gallon at 79*F.

Now i do think something is wrong, but is it possible that she may just have a large lower abdomen anyway? i remember her being big, but not like this.

I don't want to worry you because I'm not 100% sure I'll have to double triple check, but i think this can be a sign of EDIT: Internal Parasites.

I would suggest trying for a couple days of the blanched peas, to attempt a clearing of the digestive track. I don't know much about female bettas, but I'll see what I can find for more info in the meantime while your getting a pic.

Hope everything works out! :good:

Agree with ^, or dropsy. Just keep him in a seperate tank with clean water, and daily water changes.
Until we get a piture we wont knoe for sure, but id say pop an Indian Almond Leaf in his tank, it acts as a destress but also has Anti-Bacterial purposes to.

Others have all given good advice... but can we first see a picture to make sure she isn't just eggy? However the poop thing would indicate others, but just don't want to overlook the simple. Indian Almond Leaf is a god send, if you can get a hold of it, do :)

I would stop feeding her, it wont do her any harm just stop feeding her and see how she goes.
The others have already determined what it could be. Well you could feed pea but make sure its bite size and only a bit :good:
Pic as soon as you can please.

Here are some pics for you to look at.
At least I have been doing good with her so far.

Have you got any male bettas? If so then she may be eggy,
though if not it does look like first signs of dropsy.

I do have a male betta in a nearby tank.
Unless they are seeing each other through the glass that is about 6 feet away. Would this cause her to be "eggy"?

I am home on lunch and she is now swimming sideways.

she just looks eggy to me all my females get aggy and there about 4m away from the male.
try feeding her a pea just boil it and take of the skin that normally helps with constipation

she should just drop the eggs when she feels it is right. the left pic in my sig is of a female a few days before she droped her eggs
:D

She looks much better than I thought she would from your original description! I wouldn't know what an eggy female looks like, I trust the above users judgment. I think you should also try either not feeding for two or three days, maybe small pea pieces at the end of the three days. Just to ensure clear track. Will help to ensure its nothing more serious.

Glad to hear others are thinking she's okay  and eggy.

Good luck :good:

Do you think it would hurt if I put some myacin in the tank anyway.
I really hate to do that if she is just constipated, It has now been 2 days since she has eaten. I dont think she will take food anyway right now. Poor little thing.
She is weak, the slight current from the filter will push her around a little, so she will hide.

If the fish doesnt get 'better' in a few days then follow this;

If this female betta in a tank of her own, if not move her into a smaller tank,
Add salt to the water, this will help make sure its as clean as possible. Starve the fish for a few days, i would say maximum 4, then feed it a de-shelled pea. Or if it wont feed off the pea, after starving it, feed it live foods.

Hope that helps,
