Hi all
My Algae Eater has got really fat and wonder if it was pregnant when i brought it from the fish store?
I've had it for about 1mo.
And if so, how to keep the babies alive in a 250L community fish tank

And my fire bellow chilid is overly aggressive to it.

belly

CAE don't get pregnant.

It may possibly be full of eggs, but you won't get any fry without a male present to fertilise the eggs once they're laid, and these fish very rarely breed in aquarium conditions.

It could also be suffering from something that's caused dropsy (which is a symptom rather than a single disease, often related to poor water quality though), or a tumour, or it could just be greedy and overfed.

Is your tank cycled and have you tested the water? What fish do you have in there?
