My beautiful blue orchid betta fish Bucky Barnes died on Saturday. I had left for vacation and entrusted him to the care of my dad. When I returned home he was gone.

Bucky lived in a 10 gallon divided tank, he shared it with my purple and blue crowntail Jarvis. Jarvis is doing fine right now, active, curious, I plan to add more live plants.

Bucky was one of my favorite bettas. Last night I had a dream he was still alive.

Farewell Bucky! It was amazing to take care of you!
I will now go into mourning and then begin the search for the perfect betta. @AJE @PheonixKingZ you probably remember Bucky from my time on fishlore

Btw, @Chad I wanted to put a picture of him, how do I do that? Its not letting me
 
Sorry about your poor betta. I'm sure he had a great life in your care, and in such a nice big tank. May Bucky rest in peace.
 
I love those names. You just have to be a Marvel Zombie. Name your next one Red Skull or Herr Schmidt that way he'll be back even if he dies. Nobody stays dead in the Marvel universe. And now that I think about it, how about a Glass Catfish named Vision ?

Oh wait, hold the phone ! I had to come back and edit this post. Your name and the Betta's are the same for Bucky is the Winter Soldier. He lives on in you brother man. That's why you dreamed about him. As for your Dad, "It's clobberin' time", 'nuff said.

I am planning on naming my next Betta Sebastian Stan, or maybe James Bucannan Barnes and calling him James, or maybe Winter Soldier, or the Russian translation. Or how about Bucky II. I have to get a male replacement because Jarvis is male and he will be sharing the tank. Otherwise I'd get a female and name her Natasha
 
Somebody has to start a thread on what they name their fish. I name mine after movie monsters. And , hey , Winter Soldier , I totally did not mean any irreverence toward you in my post. It bums me out greatly when my fish die.
 
Fishmanic - I may steal your ideas for your 29 gallon tank. Is that OK? I just bought a new 29 gallon tank to temporarily house my mean zebra danio's. I was looking for something small and easy (5-7 gallons) but the stores here were out and I needed something immediately - even Amazon doesn't carry exactly what I want but I may have to make due.- I'm not giving the entire 29 gallons over to some weirdly mean danio's (my next post will have the full story).

Jan....sure you can copy my ideas... my tank is not copyrighted.....maybe start a freshwater or planted tank journal in that section of our forums.

Wintersoldier: why did you name your Betta “Bucky”?

I named my fairly new Betta ”Marley”.. named after Bob Marley.. the king of reggae music. When I think of reggae, I think of the tropics with palm trees and flowers like in Jamaica with its clear and clean blue looking clean waters and coral reefs and colorful sea creatures.

Well as you probably can tell I'm a pretty huge Winter Soldier fan, so Bucky was an obvious choice.

Btw, today I am going to Petsmart and Petco as well as walmart to see if there are any bettas that I like. I stopped at pet value yesterday, but they didn't have any that I liked
