I was in a not-particuarly local LFS the other day and I fell in love with these amazing lacey plants with leaves like doilies. Madagascan Lace Plants are so pretty!

They were in display tanks rather than being offered for sale, and they weren't labelled, so I came home without them to do some research. I've had a read around, but I'd like some first-hand experiences from people who have kept these plants (as a lot of websites seem to copy-paste the same info from each other).

What substrates have you all kept these on, and what were the results like?
Light intensity - I've read conflicting information on this! Have you found that they like a bit of shade or need a lot of light?

Hi, I have one, Still having little success with it so far. When I originally put the plant in my tank, all the leaves melted and I was just left with the bulb. Now I have about 2 leaves that are about 8" in length so I hope they do ok! It seems a very very hard plant to keep.
I hope the plants are just adjusting to my conditions, as they are great looking plants.

I keep mine in sand and under 2x T5HO bulbs, And I dose TNP+ And easycarbo daily.

Hope that helps a little!

i had one a few years back and it did well until it became shaded and it didn't do so well. This was in a tank with C02.

nice plant though.

click the pic to see the journal (ps this isn't my plant!)

I do have a sand substrate tank which is quite shallow so it should have very good light penetration and the other plants are all low-growing carpets or anchored to bogwood so not much competition for light.

I think I'll end up having a go regardless. I like the look of them too much not to have a bash!
