Fake Plants

So in this 70G tank I got to start up a marine tank with there were some fake plants. Nice tall ones that will wave in the water. Unfortunately they have old dried out algae on them. How can I clean them up to put in my tropical tank?

I just use hot water and give them a good scrub with a brush when mine get bad.

I have had luck using a very mild dish soap solution and a toothbrush. Then I rinse them extremely well and sumberge in a bucket or the sink a while then rinse again and again before placing them. Soap will kill the algae but just don't use too much and make sure the plants are completly soap free before using them. I'm not sure that's the proper way and I don't use any fake plants currently but it's worked for me in the past.

I have recently got some Interpet plastic plant cleaner, which has worked very well, and after very thorough rinsing, has apparently had no ill effects on my fish.
Well worth a go for difficult to clean plants/ornaments.

A solution of bleach in water works VERY well to kill algae (Not sure if its dried, although I think if it was dried then it would have come off more easily) Obviously rinse them thoroughly afterward, you can do this every time they get to covered in the stuff.
