all of a sudden, a couple of days ago, my 250 litre setup suddenly went really merky, its only strange because i havnt added anything to the tank, i havnt mixed the water around, nothing! so i did a water change but it didnt make a difference and i also cleaned the filter out which had no effect.
finnally i tested the water for : Ammonia, pH and Nitrates and they are all normal.

This has completely stunned me and i have nothing left to think about what it could be.

Please could you help me, even if your idea is a long shot.

Thanks!!

What colour of merk? Whitish / milky merk is usually a bacterial bloom which is harmless and will usually go away if you leave it be - non dangerous to fish, I got one after 3 weeks of cycling and adding root tabs under the gravel for the plants.

Algae bloom will be greenish and is an indication of some instability of nutrient / light in the tank I believe - never had that so I have no advice to give.

shame... because its green

haha

anyone have any ideas on how do get rid of this algae bloom??
-change the kind of lighting?
-special filter pads?

Could it be the food i give them?? i give them Tetra variety wafers, its says on the back of the packet "Omnivore wafers provide complete nutrition for all bottom feeding fish" all of my fish eat them, as they are all big enough to swallow them whole, i merely put a load in a couple at a time untill they dont seem interested. could it be the fact that they are "algae enriched" wafers that is causing the algae growth??

How many fish and which type do you have in the tank.
Is your tank near direct sunlight.

In the tank there is : 2 medium/large severums, 3 adolescent festivums, 2 clown loach, 1 small pictus cat, clown plec, 2 krebs, 1 young firemouth.

well it is, but i have the blinds shut most of the time so i didnt think it would be a major issue.
