just uped my wattage from 40w to 60w on my 30 uk gal tank will it make much diff to the plants

If you ahve plants that like more light (broad-leafed plants like swords), then yes. However, there are other plants taht will not do too well in high light.

If you could give us the names of the plants, we could help you out better.

You might also want to try putting this question in the plants section to get more replies.

Every watt helps. 2 watts per gallon is not to bad. You may be able to have some red leaf plants. 3 watts per gallon is even better.
