ok so i have recently brought a 5ft fish tank which came with a eheim profesional II (external filter)
we replaced all the media with new stuff and have had the tank running for 3 or 4 months now with fish
but my problem is im still seeing loads of crap floating around the tank......
should i get another external filter or a couple of internal ones and what are the best to get?

I'd probably up the external filter power by adding a second. Generally you're aiming for a minimum of 3x tank volume per hour in flow, 10x or more for planted tanks, and remember the some manufacturers (not eheim though) quote flow rates empty with no head, eheim quote full of clean media.

Floss/wool works well for cleaning the rubbish out of a tank, but beware that it clogs quickly.

yeah im leaning towards another external option. thanx for your input
