Earlier in the year I got my first external oase filter.Just wondering how often should the pipes be cleaned?

You can get pipe cleaners - specific aquarium ones are expensive but you can get them from hardware stores too. They are like a long flexible string with a wire brush on the end then you just force it through the pipes and scrub.

One of the more laborious jobs of a tank but somehow quite satisfying!

Sorry read to fast I do mine a few times a year maybe every 12 weeks or so.
